Zembower’s History
With only $150 and a straightforward idea, Bill and Sylvia Zembower opened a small vehicle repair shop in 1974.
OFFER QUALITY, HONEST SERVICE FOR A FAIR PRICE
They acquired the Eola Battery Company in downtown Orlando in 1974. Because of Bill and Sylvia’s dedicated work, that modest place expanded, and the company relocated to a bigger location on West Washington Street in Orlando.
In addition to running the office, Sylvia was in charge of all four of the kids. It is not surprising that at the age of 13, Jay, the son, began to spend much of his leisure time in the store.
At the age of 18, Jay made the decision to work for the company full-time, first as a hands-on technician and later in management, all the while enrolling in numerous college classes at night. He had already made up his mind to work at Zembower’s.
The company’s growth continued and in 1989,
The only location presently is Altamonte Springs, where Zembower’s grew. The people of Altamonte Springs have been exceedingly kind to the Zembower family.
The year 1991 turned out to be the most difficult. Bill Zembower passed away on May 10, 1991, as a result of a variety of heart attack-related complications. The core of Zembower’s today is and will continue to be Bill’s memory.
Zembower’s is currently run and managed by Jay Zembower. Zembower’s Auto Center is still active in the neighborhood. Jay has held a variety of positions on regional and national automobile councils. The company also assists WFTV Channel 9 with investigative programs related to auto repair and offers accident re-creation services to neighborhood police departments.
In 1999, Jay was awarded “Technician of the Year” by NAPA/ASE.
Jay Zembower was voted one of the Top Ten Young Technicians of the Year. Those in the trade are familiar with Jay’s skill and depth of knowledge in the automobile sector. Jay is now very busy serving as an expert witness for numerous litigation firms in the Southeast. The company is in good hands because of the kind, trustworthy team working at the front desk.
Zembower’s is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. We have 14 service bays. The majority of the technicians are Master Certified and hold ASE certification. Zembower’s is a BBB-accredited business and a AAA-approved auto repair shop. Zembower’s development and success are credited to a strong foundation, dedication, and tenacity of the Zembower family and committed workforce.
